TANNERSVILLE, Pa. — A 41-year-old Scotrun man is behind bars following an alleged violent domestic confrontation that resulted in multiple charges, according to the Pocono Township Police Department.
Officers say they responded on November 13 at approximately 1:51 p.m. to a 911 call from a residence at 112 Hemlock Trail in Scotrun, where the victim reported her boyfriend was trying to kill her and was in possession of a broom-stick.
Upon arrival, investigators say the victim reported that the suspect, identified as Jake E. Jahada, had struck her with a ladder before fleeing the scene. Officers located Jahada shortly thereafter at a nearby residence and took him into custody without further incident.
Jahada faces the following charges:
- Terroristic Threats (a Misdemeanor 1)
- Simple Assault (a Misdemeanor 2)
- Harassment (Summary offense)
He was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.
What this means
“Terroristic threats” under Pennsylvania law include threats to commit violence that would place another in fear of serious bodily injury. The addition of assault and harassment charges indicates law enforcement believes the incident involved both physical harm and abusive behavior.
Community reminder
Authorities caution that domestic disturbances often escalate quickly and advise anyone facing violence at home to contact emergency services immediately. The Pocono Township Police Department encourages all victims of domestic violence to reach out for help—every second matters.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
