The Sobriety Checkpoint
On October 10, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., Pocono Township Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in collaboration with the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
During the operation, Officer James H. Scott Jr. interacted with Jandu, who was identified as a Canadian national. Following field sobriety testing and evaluation, officers arrested Jandu on suspicion of driving while impaired by alcohol.
The checkpoint operation represents a coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to identify and remove impaired drivers from Monroe County roads.
Case Status
Jandu was fingerprinted following his arrest and has requested a public defender, though court records indicate an application for appointment of counsel has not yet been provided.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
Criminal charges were filed on November 18, 2025, more than five weeks after the October 10 arrest. Summonses were issued to Jandu via first class mail, certified mail, and standard summons.
What’s Next
The January 7 preliminary hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to advance the charges to Monroe County Court of Common Pleas.
As a first-time DUI offense with a blood alcohol content between .10 and .159, Jandu could face penalties including:
- 48 hours to six months in jail
- Fines between $500 and $5,000
