New York Woman Jailed After Drunken Rampage at Great Wolf Lodge; Spat on Officer After Attacking Three Employees With Metal Water Bottle

Yohanny Nunez arraigned Thursday on 11 charges including felony assault of law enforcement officer; incident is latest in pattern of alcohol-fueled disturbances at Pocono waterpark resort

SCOTRUN, MONROE COUNTY — A 28-year-old Mount Vernon, New York woman is in Monroe County Prison after a drunken rampage at Great Wolf Lodge’s waterpark Thursday afternoon that left three employees injured and ended with her spitting on a Pocono Township police officer.

Yohanny Nunez appeared before Magisterial District Judge Richard P. White on Thursday, December 19, 2025, and was unable to post $15,000 bail. She was remanded to Monroe County Prison, where she remains confined.

Her preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge is scheduled for Tuesday, December 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

The incident marks the latest in a pattern of alcohol-fueled disturbances requiring police response at the family-oriented waterpark resort over the past two years.

Domestic Dispute Turns Violent

According to Pocono Township Police, officers were dispatched to Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark at 1 Great Wolf Drive in Scotrun at approximately 2:37 p.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic dispute.

Before officers arrived, dispatchers advised them that the situation had escalated—a female involved in the dispute was now assaulting Great Wolf Lodge employees.

Officers made contact with the woman, identified as Yohanny Nunez, inside the waterpark. Police said she was uncooperative, manifestly under the influence of alcohol, and causing a disturbance in the family-oriented facility.

Investigators determined that Nunez had struck three Great Wolf Lodge employees with a metal water bottle and also punched them while they attempted to defuse the situation. She was taken into custody.

Spitting on Officer Brings Felony Charge

While in police custody, Nunez spit on a Pocono Township Police officer—an act that under Pennsylvania law constitutes a third-degree felony.

Under 18 Pa.C.S. § 2702.1, a person commits assault of a law enforcement officer if they intentionally cause an officer to come into contact with saliva while the officer is performing their duties. The charge carries a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison and is the most serious count Nunez faces.

Nunez was transported to Monroe County Correctional Facility, where she was arraigned on her charges Thursday evening. Officer Austin R. Anglemyer is listed as the arresting officer.

Pattern of Alcohol-Related Incidents at Resort

Thursday’s arrest is the latest in a series of alcohol-fueled incidents requiring police response at the Pocono Mountains Great Wolf Lodge.

In March 2024, Pocono Township Police arrested two people—Shamari Olasoji and Ashley Vega—after they caused a drunken disturbance in the resort’s buffet. According to police, the pair were “extremely intoxicated,” falling into tables, bumping into customers, and threatening to “beat up” a buffet manager when staff asked Olasoji to put on shoes. Vega attempted to interfere when police arrested Olasoji.

In October 2024, officers arrested Michael Ruiz of Rochester, New York after he allegedly struck his partner multiple times in a hotel room during a domestic dispute. The assault occurred in front of the couple’s two small children.

In May 2025, police arrested Sylvan C. McGarrel, 39, of Teaneck, New Jersey after he inappropriately touched a juvenile female inside the waterpark. McGarrel, who told investigators he was 24 years old, was charged with corruption of minors, indecent assault, and harassment.
