Wayne County, PA — A major fire broke out late Tuesday morning on November 11 at Vegh Import & Electronics, a tire and auto-electronics business located on Hamlin Highway near Lake Ariel, forcing road closures and prompting a large emergency response.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames shooting through the roof of the building. The blaze quickly intensified, causing significant damage to the structure and the contents inside. Crews from multiple departments across Wayne County worked together to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
The stretch of Hamlin Highway between Golf Park Drive and Hamlin Four Corners was shut down to all traffic while responders battled the blaze. Drivers were urged to find alternate routes as emergency vehicles filled the roadway and hoses stretched across the pavement.
Vegh Import & Electronics, well known in the area for tire service and car-electronics work, sustained extensive loss. Witnesses described seeing the building fully engulfed, with flames consuming the roof before firefighters could bring it under control. Though damage estimates are still being compiled, officials expect the impact to be considerable.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire. No injuries have been reported, but authorities warned that structural instability and lingering hot spots remain a concern as cleanup continues.
The fire disrupted traffic and drew dozens of onlookers from the surrounding area. While many expressed gratitude that no one was hurt, the loss of a long-standing local business has left the Lake Ariel community shaken.
