Monroe County Man Faces Preliminary Hearing in Domestic Assault Case

POCONO TOWNSHIP, PA – An 80-year-old Henryville man arrested last week on domestic assault charges remains in Monroe County Prison awaiting his preliminary hearing next month after being unable to post bail.

Hilton Pearce is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge at 10 a.m. on December 3 for a preliminary hearing on simple assault and harassment charges stemming from a November 19 incident in Pocono Township.

Upcoming Court Date:

  • December 3, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – Preliminary Hearing (Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge)

Pearce was arraigned the same day as his arrest and has remained in custody since, with bail set at $7,500.

The Charges

Pearce faces two charges from the November 19 incident:

  • Simple assault (second-degree misdemeanor)
  • Harassment – subject other to physical contact (summary offense)

The Incident

Pocono Township Police were dispatched around 10:53 a.m. on November 19 to a report of a physical domestic disturbance at a residence in the township.

According to police, the victim reported that Pearce had pushed them multiple times and made threatening statements during the altercation.

Officer Devin N. Dehart investigated the incident. Following the investigation, Pearce was arrested at the scene and charged with simple assault and harassment.

Custody Status

Pearce has been held at Monroe County Prison since his arrest on November 19, unable to post the $7,500 monetary bail set by Judge Kresge. The bail was set with no Nebbia conditions, meaning there are no restrictions on the source of bail funds.

During his arraignment, Pearce requested a public defender, though court records indicate an application for appointment of counsel has not yet been provided.

What’s Next

The December 3 preliminary hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for the charges to advance to the Court of Common Pleas. If the case moves forward, Pearce would face formal arraignment and potential trial.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
