State Files $1,861 Tax Lien Against Mount Pocono Daycare

MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY – The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has filed a $1,861.90 lien against Three Stages Daycare for unpaid unemployment compensation taxes.

The judgment was recorded Thursday in Monroe County Court of Common Pleas. The daycare, located at 4 Fairview Avenue, remains open.

UC taxes are quarterly payroll contributions that employers must pay into the state’s unemployment fund—money that provides benefits to workers who lose their jobs. When employers fall behind, the state can file liens against their assets to secure the debt.

Three Stages Day Care and Learning Corp has operated in Mount Pocono since 1999. Better Business Bureau records list Keisha Johnson as CEO and show an A+ rating. The center offers early childhood programs with extended hours from 5 AM to midnight on weekdays.

The lien will remain on the business’s record until the balance—plus any interest and fees—is paid in full. Under state law, continued nonpayment can lead to a 3 percent penalty on future tax rates, seizure of bank accounts, or sheriff’s sales of business assets.
