Pocono Township Man Arrested in Early-Morning Incident at Home

TANNERSVILLE, Pa. — At around 3:59 a.m. on November 13, officers from the Pocono Township Police Department responded to a domestic report at a residence on 232 Buck Fever Trail in Scotrun, where they say a 24-year-old man allegedly assaulted his father.

According to police, the suspect — identified as Robert J. Giardini — is accused of scratching his father’s neck while the latter was asleep. Fresh injuries were reportedly observed by officers at the scene.

Giardini was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. He faces charges under Pennsylvania law for Simple Assault (18 Pa.C.S. § 2701(a)(1)) and Harassment (18 Pa.C.S. § 2709(a)(1)).

What It Means
Simple Assault in Pennsylvania is defined as intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury to another. Harassment covers intentional acts to alarm or seriously annoy another person. Both charges suggest law enforcement is taking the allegations seriously.

Giardini is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
