Police Chase Hits 100 MPH on Route 33 in Monroe County; Vehicle Remains at Large

Vehicle with New Jersey plates evades officers twice during pursuit from Tannersville to Saylorsburg

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY — A police pursuit that began in Pocono Township on Christmas Eve reached speeds of 100 miles per hour on Route 33 before officers terminated the chase for safety reasons, according to emergency radio communications.

The incident began around 3:58 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2025, when Pocono Township Police attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Route 611 and Route 715 in Tannersville. The driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.

Eyewitness Disputes Vehicle Description

Police radio traffic described the vehicle as a silver Audi with New Jersey registration. However, an eyewitness on Route 715 near Warner Road offered a slightly different description.

“Car flew by us on 715 before Warner Road,” the witness said. “Gold color four-door with NJ temp plates on the back window. Due to speed didn’t see the make of the car. Police came flying about a minute later.”
