Erin Brauer arraigned Friday night on seven charges including simple assault and DUI; court records show three pending Lackawanna County cases and 2013 Monroe County DUI conviction
SCOTRUN, MONROE COUNTY — A 40-year-old Scranton woman is in Monroe County Prison tonight after being arraigned Friday on DUI and assault charges stemming from a road rage incident near the Crossings Outlets that ended with a victim attacked in the Scotrun Plaza parking lot.
Erin Brauer appeared before Magisterial District Judge Richard P. White on Friday, December 19, 2025, and was unable to post $5,000 bail. She was remanded to Monroe County Prison, where she remains confined.
Her preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge is scheduled for Tuesday, December 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
Court records reveal Brauer was already facing three pending criminal cases in Lackawanna County—including harassment and disorderly conduct charges from incidents in August and November—and has a prior DUI conviction from 2013 in Monroe County.
The Road Rage Incident
According to Pocono Township Police, officers were dispatched to the Scotrun Plaza on Friday, December 19, 2025, for a report of a road rage incident.
Investigators determined the confrontation began on Route 611 north near the Crossings Premium Outlets. The victim was subsequently assaulted in the parking lot of the Scotrun Plaza.
The female suspect fled north on Route 611 in a black Jeep.
Pocono Township officers located the vehicle a short time later in the parking lot of the Swiftwater Hotel. The driver was identified as Erin Brauer.
Officers observed Brauer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance. She was arrested for DUI and simple assault.
Connected Hit-and-Run in Pocono Summit
Pocono Township Police later discovered that prior to the road rage assault, Brauer had been involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in Pocono Summit. That incident is being investigated by Pocono Mountain Regional Police.
Charges have been filed. Traffic citations filed Saturday, December 20, 2025, show Brauer was cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property and driving without required financial responsibility (no insurance) in connection with the Tobyhanna Township crash.
Pattern of Disorderly Conduct
Court records reveal Brauer was no stranger to law enforcement in the months leading up to Friday’s arrest.
August 23, 2025 — Dunmore Borough, Lackawanna County: Dunmore Borough Police Officer Ryan C. Williams cited Brauer for harassment and disorderly conduct (engaging in fighting) following an incident. Both summary trials were continued from October 29, 2025, and are now scheduled for January 7, 2026 before Magisterial District Judge Paul J. Ware.
November 7, 2025 — Dunmore Borough, Lackawanna County: Dunmore Borough Police Officer Anthony J. Cali Jr. cited Brauer for disorderly conduct (unreasonable noise). A summary trial is scheduled for February 18, 2026 before Judge Ware.
Prior DUI Conviction
Brauer pleaded guilty to DUI (general impairment, second offense) on December 24, 2013, in Monroe County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Jennifer Harlacher Sibum presided over the case.
The current DUI charge—if prosecuted as a repeat offense given her 2013 conviction—could carry enhanced penalties under Pennsylvania’s tiered DUI sentencing structure.
