Scranton man Tara Glan sentenced to 43.5 to 97 years after pleading guilty to raping four children and an intellectually disabled woman over five years at Ray of Hope Church in Taylor, Lackawanna County.

Tara Glan drove the church van and ran the youth group at Ray of Hope Church in Taylor. Investigators say he used that access to rape five victims — a woman with a documented intellectual disability and four children — over five years. He pleaded guilty in February to five felonies, in a deal that dropped more than 50 additional charges.
This outlet found that Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher’s office never issued a press release about the plea — the only outlet that covered it described the outcome as a guilty verdict, language that implies a trial that never happened.
Glan was sentenced to 43.5 to 97 years in prison — and only then did Gallagher’s office issue a statement.
