Tannersville Man Faces Assault Charges in Neighbor Dispute

Tannersville Man Faces Assault Charges in Neighbor Dispute

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY — A Tannersville man admitted to police he brandished a realistic-looking BB gun and made threatening comments during an argument with his neighbor — and now faces assault charges in Monroe County while still owing money on a Lackawanna County conviction from four months ago.

Enrique Santana Marin, 67, was charged December 15 with simple assault and harassment stemming from the November 30 incident in the 1700 block of Sullivan Trail.

Marin was not arrested. A summons was issued.

Marin Admitted Flashing Weapon

Pocono Township Police responded around 2:22 p.m. on November 30 after a caller reported a neighbor dispute involving a firearm on Sullivan Trail — a residential stretch near Tannersville in the Pocono Mountains, minutes from Camelback Resort and Big Pocono State Park.

Officer Devin N. Dehart made contact with Marin, who admitted he had flashed the BB gun and made threats during the argument.

The neighbor believed the weapon was real.

Under Pennsylvania law, simple assault applies when a person puts another in fear of imminent serious bodily injury — even without physical contact. Displaying what appears to be a firearm while making threats meets that threshold.

Charges

Marin faces:

  • Simple Assault (M2), 18 § 2701 §§ A3
  • Harassment – Communicate Lewd, Threatening Language (M3), 18 § 2709 §§ A4

Prior Record: Lackawanna County

Court records show Marin pleaded guilty in Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas on August 12, 2025 — four months before the Sullivan Trail incident.

In that case (CP-35-CR-0001788-2025), Marin originally faced seven charges including exhibiting false identification to obtain a license, a first-degree misdemeanor. Prosecutors withdrew the false ID count along with driving without a license, lighting equipment violations, and improper tires.

Marin pleaded guilty before Judge Paul Keeler to disorderly conduct (M3), examination for license (S), and requirement for commercial driver’s license (S).

Lackawanna County court records show the case status as “Awaiting Payment.” Marin still owes fines or costs.

Prior Record: Monroe County

Marin pleaded guilty in Monroe County on June 17, 2025, to driving an unregistered vehicle — a summary offense (MJ-43303-TR-0002520-2025).

That case was before Judge Kresge. The same Monroe County judge is now handling the assault charges.
