EAST STROUDSBURG, PA — A 24-year-old East Stroudsburg man who was already serving probation for two prior indecent exposure convictions has been held in Monroe County Prison since September on new charges of indecently assaulting a cleaning service worker—marking his third sex-related case in less than two years.
Cristian Alejandro Kent has been held at Monroe County Correctional Facility since September 12, 2025, on $100 bail that has not been posted. His case has been scheduled for a call/guilty plea/ARD hearing on April 17, 2026, before Judge Jonathan Mark.
The August 2025 incident occurred while Kent was serving a two-year probation sentence imposed in January 2025 for two separate indecent exposure cases from 2023 and 2024.
Upcoming Court Date:
- April 17, 2026, 8:30 a.m. – Call/Guilty Plea/ARD Hearing (Judge Jonathan Mark)
Kent is represented by private attorney Brett J. Riegel of ARM Lawyers in Stroudsburg, who filed a waiver of appearance at arraignment in early November, allowing the case to proceed without a formal arraignment hearing that had been scheduled for December 22.
The Charges
Kent faces three charges stemming from an August 29, 2025, incident at his East Stroudsburg residence:
- Indecent assault without consent of other (second-degree misdemeanor)
- Open lewdness (third-degree misdemeanor)
- Harassment – subject other to physical contact (summary offense)
All charges were waived for court at a November 5 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge, meaning there was sufficient evidence to advance the case to Monroe County Court of Common Pleas.
The Incident
On Friday, August 29, 2025, around 11:40 a.m., Pocono Township Police were called to an address in East Stroudsburg for a report that a cleaning service employee had been touched inappropriately by a client.
According to Officer Larry C. Miller’s investigation, Kent, then 23 years old, had hired a cleaning service to provide an estimate for cleaning his home. During the visit, Kent asked the 42-year-old female victim for a hug, during which he allegedly groped her without her consent.
Police say Kent then tried several times to convince the victim to go to the upstairs portion of the home. The victim went outside and contacted her supervisor to advise him of the situation.
When the victim returned to the house to inform Kent she would no longer be providing services to his home, he allegedly touched himself inappropriately multiple times while speaking with her.
Based on statements from both the victim and Kent during police interviews, charges were filed on September 12, 2025.
Prior Convictions and Probation
Court records reveal Kent has a troubling pattern of sex-related offenses. Just seven months before the August 2025 assault, Kent was sentenced to probation for two separate indecent exposure cases:
Case 1 (CP-45-CR-0000330-2024): Kent pleaded guilty to indecent exposure (second-degree misdemeanor) stemming from a December 4, 2023, incident investigated by Pocono Township Police. On January 27, 2025, Judge Jennifer Harlacher Sibum sentenced him to two years probation.
Case 2 (CP-45-CR-0000334-2024): Kent pleaded guilty to another indecent exposure charge (second-degree misdemeanor) from a separate 2024 incident. He received an additional two years probation on January 27, 2025, also from Judge Sibum.
Both prior cases were investigated by the same Pocono Township Police officer, Larry C. Miller, who investigated the August 2025 cleaning worker assault.
The new charges in August 2025—committed while Kent was on active probation—represent a potential probation violation that could result in additional penalties beyond any sentence for the new offenses.
Kent is also represented by the same attorney, Brett J. Riegel, in all three cases.
Extended Custody
Kent has remained in custody at Monroe County Prison continuously since his September 12 arrest—more than two months—despite the relatively low $100 bail amount set by Judge Kresge on November 5.
Court records list him as “still in custody” as of November 2025, with his confinement reason listed as being held at a county correctional facility.
The extended incarceration is likely due to the probation violation. When defendants on probation are arrested for new charges, they can be held without bail pending a probation revocation hearing, regardless of the bail amount set on the new charges. Kent’s probation sentence was imposed by Judge Sibum in January 2025, just seven months before the new offense.
Case Progression
The case has moved through several procedural steps since charges were filed:
- September 12, 2025: Criminal complaint filed; Kent arrested and taken into custody
- November 5, 2025: Preliminary hearing; charges waived for court; bail set at $100
- November 6, 2025: Case transferred to Court of Common Pleas; attorney Brett Riegel entered appearance
- November 6, 2025: Riegel filed waiver of formal arraignment
- November 6, 2025: Judge Mark issued order placing case on final call/trial term
- December 22, 2025: Formal arraignment cancelled (due to waiver)
- April 17, 2026: Call/guilty plea/ARD hearing scheduled
The April hearing will likely involve plea negotiations or a potential guilty plea. Given Kent’s two prior convictions for similar offenses and his probation status, he would not be eligible for the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program, which is reserved for first-time offenders.
What’s Next
At the April 17 hearing, Kent could:
- Enter a guilty plea to some or all charges
- Proceed to trial if no plea agreement is reached
- Face a probation revocation hearing on the 2025 sentences
If convicted on the second-degree misdemeanor indecent assault charge, Kent could face up to two years in prison under Pennsylvania sentencing guidelines. The third-degree misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of one year.
Additionally, if his probation is revoked due to the new charges, he could face additional jail time for violating the terms of his 2025 probation sentences. Probation violations can result in the imposition of the original sentence that was suspended when probation was granted.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
