Pocono Lake Man Wanted on DUI Warrant After Missing Monroe County Trial

STROUDSBURG — A 56-year-old Pocono Lake man is wanted on an active bench warrant after failing to appear for a DUI bench trial at the Monroe County Courthouse, according to court records.

Timothy Allen Helms was scheduled to appear before Monroe County Judge C. Daniel Higgins Jr. on Dec. 1 for trial on charges of DUI-highest rate of alcohol (.16+ BAC), DUI-general impairment, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disregarding a traffic lane.

The charges stem from a May 7, 2024 traffic stop in Tobyhanna Township. Trooper Tyler J. O’Shura of PSP Fern Ridge made the arrest.

Released Without Bail, Then Stopped Appearing

Magisterial District Judge Richard P. White released Helms on his own recognizance on Sept. 24, 2024 — no cash bail required. Monroe County DA Michael Mancuso filed charges Oct. 7, 2024.

The case was continued multiple times. Certified mail sent to Helms was returned undeliverable July 28, 2025, triggering a bench warrant. Public Defender Jacob Thomas Hill filed a motion to dissolve the warrant Aug. 1. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office filed a return of service Aug. 22.

Both Hill and ADA Monika Halicki filed continuance motions Oct. 20 — the day before trial. Judge Higgins rescheduled to Dec. 1. Halicki filed another continuance Nov. 26; court records don’t show if it was ruled on before trial.
