Tobyhanna Man Charged With Breaking Into Food Mart Now Has Warrant

Marconi Armond, 40, already had outstanding warrant when he broke through locked door — criminal history spans 17 years across three counties

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY — A Tobyhanna man charged with breaking into a Pocono Township food mart came back to the same property two days later because he “wanted to apologize,” according to police. He’s now facing a first-degree felony burglary charge, has an active bench warrant on a separate case, and is due in court Monday.

Defendant:

  • Marconi Anthony Armond, 40
  • DOB: April 23, 1985
  • Last Known Residence: Tobyhanna, PA 18466
  • Physical Description: Black male, black hair, brown eyes
  • Aliases: Marc Armond, Marconi Armon

Court records show Armond has accumulated drug and driving convictions across Monroe, Lehigh, and Northampton counties since 2008. He already had an outstanding arrest warrant when police caught him inside a vacant office above Chohan’s Food Mart on Route 611.

Then he made it worse.

The Break-In

On October 20, 2025, at approximately 9:03 p.m., Pocono Township Police responded to Chohan’s Food Mart at 2756 Route 611 after an employee reported hearing noises from a vacant office area above the business.

Officers found Marconi Armond inside.

Police determined he had no permission to be there and had entered through a locked door. They also discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Armond was charged with first-degree burglary — entering a structure not adapted for overnight accommodation while a person was present — plus second-degree criminal trespass, drug possession, and paraphernalia. He posted $5,000 bail and was released.

The Return

Two days later, on October 22, police were dispatched back to 2756 Route 611. The man they’d just trespassed from the property had returned.

Officers located Armond at the Wendy’s in Tannersville. He admitted he came back “because he wanted to apologize,” according to police. He was charged with defiant trespass and released on his own recognizance.

Both cases are set for formal arraignment Monday, December 22, at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Jonathan Mark.

The Warrant

Armond’s legal problems didn’t start with the food mart.

On January 5, 2025, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Shawn T. Jones arrested Armond in Smithfield Township. He was charged with resisting arrest, drug possession, marijuana possession, and paraphernalia.

Magisterial District Judge Jamie Levy held the charges for court. Judge Stephen M. Higgins scheduled formal arraignment for November 24, then rescheduled it to December 8. Armond didn’t show.

The case now lists an active bench warrant. It was this warrant — issued before his October arrest — that police discovered when they found him inside Chohan’s Food Mart.

17 Years, Three Counties

Armond’s record goes back to June 2008, when he pled guilty to marijuana possession and driving on a suspended license before Judge Richard Claypool in Monroe County.

In 2013, he picked up drug paraphernalia convictions in Monroe County (before Judge Kristina Anzini), Northampton County (before Judge Leonard N. Zito), and a careless driving plea.

October 2019 brought two Lehigh County arrests within a week — marijuana possession and paraphernalia before Judge Michael D. D’Amore. Court records show one of those cases is now listed as “Awaiting Revocation Hearing.”

Ten days after the second Lehigh arrest, Armond was arrested for DUI in Monroe County. That case took two and a half years to resolve. He pled guilty in May 2022 before Judge Higgins and got six months probation.

Now he’s facing Judge Higgins again on the resisting arrest case. Or he would be, if he hadn’t skipped court.

What He Faces

First-degree burglary in Pennsylvania carries 10 to 20 years in state prison. Second-degree criminal trespass carries up to two years. Resisting arrest is a second-degree misdemeanor.

The drug charges are misdemeanors, but Armond’s pattern — convictions in 2008, 2013, 2019, 2022, and pending charges in 2025 — gives prosecutors ammunition at sentencing. The bench warrant means any officer can arrest him on contact.

Anyone with information on Armond’s whereabouts should contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department at 570-420-3575 or Pocono Township Police at 570-839-7657.
